3 Milwaukee Bucks that could step up, replace Malcolm Brogdon
By Byron Jones
1. Donte DiVincenzo
With the 17th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks selected Donte DiVincenzo from Villanova. His collegiate resume as a two-time national champion and the 2018 Final Four Most Outstanding Player recipient speaks to the high expectations Milwaukee has for his career with the franchise.
After overcoming a left foot injury that kept him sidelined for much of his rookie season, DiVincenzo looks primed and ready to show the league what he can do.
At 6’5”, DiVincenzo is a combo guard with solid offensive and defensive skills that remind many of Malcolm Brogdon. Deceptive speed and athleticism help him catch defenders flat-footed, giving DiVincenzo room to create for himself and others. His ability to make plays is one reason the point guard position is also in the discussion for DiVincenzo’s future with the team.
If the Bucks intend to build on last season’s success, young players must reach their physical potential and overcome any mental distractions. Barring concerns over staying healthy, DiVincenzo has the highest ceiling in terms of upside for his career.
He must find and maintain that level of confidence exhibited during those NCAA championship runs to be the player many anticipate him to be.
