The Los Angeles Lakers kicked off the 2019-20 campaign with a loss against the LA Clippers. Here’s a look at three takeaways from their season opener.
The Los Angeles Lakers came into the offseason with one goal in mind: To put together a roster that could compete for a championship. So, after adding LeBron James last season, they traded for Anthony Davis and acquired the likes of DeMarcus Cousins, Dwight Howard and a few perimeter shooters in Danny Green, Jared Dudley and Troy Daniels.

Meanwhile, the LA Clippers didn’t exactly stand pat, either. They signed two-time champion and two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and they traded for Paul George as well. Following a season in which they won 48 games, the Clippers have assembled a championship-caliber roster in their own right.
With these two teams seemingly on a collision course to meet in the postseason, it was only fitting that they faced each other on the opening night of the season. As expected, it was an entertaining contest that featured several runs by both squads.
But when it was said and done, the Lakers came up a bit short, dropping the first four of meetings between these two ball clubs 112-102.
Here’s a look at the notable takeaways from the Lakers’ season opener.
