Previewing the Cavs’ core, player by player

Jordan Clarkson
A spark plug on the second unit, Jordan Clarkson is going to provide a ton of offense for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavs acquired Clarkson in 2018 via a midseason trade to surround LeBron James with more talent. As James made his departure from the franchise, Clarkson was left to anchor the Cleveland bench with his pure scoring ability.
Clarkson averaged a career-high 16.8 points per game last season. Though his tendency to jack up shots often stagnated the Cavaliers offense, there is no doubt that his consistent scoring helped the team.
This year, the Cavaliers will not be so reliant on Clarkson. With players such as Collin Sexton, Cedi Osman, Darius Garland and a healthy Kevin Love, the Cavaliers offense will not be as desperate for production anymore.
Nonetheless, Clarkson will certainly have an important role. His potential to catch fire and be a heat-check player is something that will keep him in the rotation all year long. Anticipate JC filling up the scoring meter while playing consistent minutes off the bench.
