Darius Garland
The Cleveland Cavaliers are prepared to place their faith in the hands of Darius Garland.
An electrifying scorer with a buttery smooth 3-point shot, Garland is going to be a force this season. His quick release and impressive footwork have caught many defenders off guard in the preseason as Garland has hit nearly half of his attempts from deep.
Garland’s threat as a shooter is something that will keep opponents on their toes. As a result, we can expect him to blow by defenders and get into the paint for crafty floaters.
Hopefully, we will see Garland make an effort to improve as a playmaker. He averaged just 2.6 assists per game in college. Seeing how he will demand a lot of attention, it will be best if DG manages to hit open teammates.
The Cavaliers will look to build a connection between Garland and Collin Sexton. These two guards can blossom into a star duo with high offensive production. Finding a way to coexist will be an important goal for both players.
Their defense will be the big question for Garland and Sexton. Can these two undersized guards hold their own defensively? Neither player has shown much promise on this end of the floor, leaving us to believe they will struggle early on.
Regardless, the scoring output from Sexton and Garland will be enough to justify their pairing. These two will create a free-flowing offense that is going to excite a ton of fans.
By the end of the season, Garland will hopefully be established as the team’s best scorer. As his time in Cleveland goes on, look for DG to become the cornerstone of the franchise moving forward in the rebuild.
