Southwest

Dallas Mavericks: Delon Wright, Seth Curry, Luka Doncic, Justin Jackson, Kristaps Porzingis

Everything around Doncic and Kristaps is under the radar in a loaded Western Conference, but Dallas has some solid players. Shooting and defense around the two cornerstones should be Rick Carlisle‘s emphasis, and any lineup with Porzingis at the 5 will space the floor quite well.

Houston Rockets: Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Eric Gordon, Gary Clark, P.J. Tucker

Any lineup about the Rockets must include the star duo. Clint Capela is a risk to get played off the floor when it matters most, so Clark needs to get tick in a small lineup to prepare for this. Minutes like these for Tucker (at the 5) should be saved for late-season games, no doubt.

Memphis Grizzlies: Ja Morant, De’Anthony Melton, Dillon Brooks, Brandon Clarke, Jaren Jackson Jr.

Memphis won’t win much this year, but they’ll be a blast to watch. Clarke and JJJ make for a super bouncy frontcourt and Ja Morant will be going at Ludicrous Speed all season. Melton is a dog defensively and Brooks is an above-average shooter to help open up room in the halfcourt.

New Orleans Pelicans: Lonzo Ball, Jrue Holiday, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Zion Williamson, Jaxson Hayes

The Pelicans are fun and deep. Any permutation of five would be exciting to watch, especially ones with the three rookies. Williamson is must-see TV, Hayes had the dunk of the offseason, and Alexander-Walker is forcing his way into NOLA’s rotation. This is the League Pass team of the year.

San Antonio Spurs: Derrick White, Lonnie Walker IV, Dejounte Murray, DeMarre Carroll, LaMarcus Aldridge

Defense is definitely covered with White, Murray and Carroll. Aldridge provides the points and the three young guards together is a combination that could be a big part of the future in San Antonio.
