What’s in store for the Bucks? 5 predictions for 2019-20

2. Giannis Antetokounmpo will make a run at MVP (again)
2018-19 was not only a magical season for the Milwaukee Bucks as a team, but also for their franchise player, Giannis Antetokounmpo. The former No. 15 overall pick took the league by storm last year, posting averages of 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. He also finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Not too shabby, eh?
The scariest part of Antetokounmpo’s progression thus far is twofold. First and foremost, he’s only 24 years old. Secondly, he hasn’t been able to show many (if any) signs of a consistent 3-point shot. What would be a huge red flag for nearly all other NBA players has been just a minor inconvenience for Antetokounmpo.
Imagine how dangerous Antetokounmpo, perhaps the league’s most dangerous star, would be if he could shoot something in the neighborhood of 32-34 percent on 3s. Nothing flashy, but just enough to force defenses to respect it. Not only would that potentially open up a new part of the three-time All-Star’s game, but it could also unclog the lanes for him.
It’s been documented that Antetokounmpo is working on adding a reliable 3-point shot to his arsenal. If he does that, look out. The NBA will be on notice and he could be on the receiving end of a second straight MVP award.
