What’s in store for the Bucks? 5 predictions for 2019-20

3. The shooting guard position will be a strength, not a weakness
Losing Brogdon to the Indiana Pacers hurts. It’s nearly impossible to replace a young stud with his skillset and efficiency. 50-40-90 club members don’t grow on trees. With that said, don’t count out the other guards currently on the Milwaukee Bucks roster.
If you haven’t checked out our piece on why the Bucks’ guard depth shouldn’t be overlooked, you can do so here. It provides a breakdown of every player who could step in and try to fill the void left by Brogdon’s departure. Instead of heavily relying on one player to pick up the pieces, there could be several different members of the Milwaukee backcourt playing significant minutes.
For starters, free agent acquisition Wesley Matthews was a nice pickup. He’s no longer the 3-and-D player he was in his prime, but he can still knock down the 3-ball at a solid clip — just not along with playing great defense. Matthews will be the beneficiary of many kickouts from Antetokounmpo which will, in turn, give him plenty of opportunities to show what he can do.
Behind Matthews, Kyle Korver is another veteran presence that will add a hefty amount of 3-point shooting to the bench. That and leadership are the two qualities Korver brings to the table, and both are welcomed additions.
Other than the aforementioned duo, young players like Donte DiVincenzo, Sterling Brown, Pat Connaughton and Frank Mason will receive chances to prove why they’re worthy of increased playing time as well. The Bucks have options, which is never a bad thing.
