What’s in store for the Bucks? 5 predictions for 2019-20

4. Giannis’ supporting cast will perform exactly as expected
As previously mentioned, Jon Horst has done a tremendous job putting together a Milwaukee Bucks team that plays well as a unit around Antetokounmpo. Eric Bledsoe signed a four-year contract extension in March. Khris Middleton received his hefty raise this offseason, a five-year commitment that should see him remain a Buck through his prime.
Both of these players are critical to the success of the franchise.
Also, Brook Lopez was rewarded for his solid play in 2018-19 with a four-year contract of his own this offseason. Milwaukee will be paying the price for being in the luxury tax for several years but one thing is for sure: It’s a small price to pay if it’s in exchange for a championship.
Bledsoe, 29, is a constant in the Milwaukee lineup. Averaging 15.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game last season, he is as solid as they come at the point guard position. Turning 30 is a huge milestone in the NBA — and for all the wrong reasons. Bledsoe’s not relied upon to be a star, though, and should be just fine moving forward.
Middleton is the Robin to Antetokounmpo’s Batman. Making the All-Star team for the first time in his career last season, the 28-year-old averaged 18.3 points per game and played quality defense. As he continues in his prime, expect things to remain consistent at the very worst. If the Bucks are lucky, perhaps Middleton has another level he can take his game to.
Last, but certainly not least, Lopez’s one-season audition with Milwaukee a year ago turned out to be huge. Attempting 6.3 3s a game as a floor-spacing center, Lopez also averaged a career-high 2.2 blocks per game.
Establishing himself as a legitimate rim protector in addition to one of the best 3-point shooting bigs in the game, Lopez plays a role as important as anyone not named Giannis in the starting five.
