Different expectations for new-look Warriors in 2019-20

Storyline 3: Stephen Curry wins his 3rd MVP award
Since averaging 30.1 points per game on 50.4 percent shooting from the field (career-high), 45.4 percent from beyond the arc, with 2.1 SPG (career-high) during his unanimous MVP season, Stephen Curry did not reached those heights throughout Kevin Durant’s tenure with the Golden State Warriors.
During those last three seasons, Curry still managed to remain within the top 11 in MVP voting, which is certainly not a surprise.
Now that KD and DeMarcus Cousins are no longer on the team, Curry will have to average similar if not better numbers in order for his team to make and playoffs and compete for another championship.
According to the NBA’s GM survey that was just released Thursday, Curry received 10 percent of the votes (tied with Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard for second-most) for MVP behind Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Curry also managed to be voted first as the best pure shooter (86 percent to Klay Thompson’s 14 percent), point guard (90 percent) and he was chosen as the player to take game-winning shot (44 percent).
Aside from receiving recognition in a couple of other areas, this GM survey shows that Curry is not showing any signs of regression and will definitely be one of the favorites (if not the favorite) to win the 2019-20 NBA MVP award.
