6. LeBron and AD bringing the Lakers back

If it feels like LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been teammates for a while now, such is the result of an unfulfilled trade request back in late January. Together finally, they must now turn their focus towards the arduous task of bringing the Los Angeles Lakers a championship as two of the most talented players in the NBA today.

LeBron is coming off the fewest games played of his storied career, leading many to believe we are witnessing the beginning of the end for The King. Having missed out on the playoffs, he’s had an unfathomable amount of time to recharge the batteries that have been depleted over eight straight Finals runs and will respond to his doubters accordingly.

After a mediocre supporting cast the previous year, James now has the privilege of playing alongside the best big man he’s ever called a teammate. Davis isn’t the perimeter scoring threat to fully ease LeBron’s offensive burden, but the six-time All-Star will wreak havoc diving to the bucket while doing wonders for LA’s defense.

Southern California is where both James and Davis wanted to be, knowing full well the expectations that came with it. There might not be a better one-two punch than the one draped in purple and gold, but the results are what matter for a franchise accustomed to a certain standard of winning through the years.
