The San Antonio Spurs season tips off in just over a week. With a few preseason games under their belt, what can we predict about this year’s team?

It’s true what they say. Halloween is always tons of fun, and New Year’s Day is nice. But it’s hard to think of any special day that compares to the NBA’s tipoff. Just do the math: 30 gifts all unwrapped at once, and at least half of them keep giving over the course of an 82-game season. For the San Antonio Spurs, we’re now only nine days away from the unveiling.

More from Hoops Habit

The team is in preparation for its suddenly must-watch home opener against the New York Knicks on Oct. 23.

The preseason has given us a brief, but not conclusive glimpse into what this year’s Spurs team will entail. As of now, the Spurs are one of only four teams without a win. And while the future probably looked a little bit brighter a week ago for some fans, there are enough bright spots to remain optimistic about what the 2019-20 season holds.

The one thing we know for certain is that there’s obvious getting used to. We’ve got to get used to Tim Duncan‘s new hairstyle and Dejounte Murray being back in the starting lineup, among other things.

That being said, today, we’ll look at five predictions for the Spurs’ upcoming season. Some are a bit on the ambitious side. And by ambitious I mean, a ton has to be going right in San Antonio, and a ton has to not be going right in places not in San Antonio.

But, for the most part, they all remain on the doable side. As the season progresses, we’ll revisit them, and track just how successful or unsuccessful they were.

In whichever case, it should certainly be tons of fun. Without further adieu, it’s time to look into the five projections for the 2019-20 San Antonio Spurs.
