New York Knicks: 5 predictions for 2019-20 season
1. Knicks surpass Las Vegas win total
Heading into the offseason, there were high expectations for the New York Knicks. At some points, they were among the favorites to win the 2019-20 NBA title. Those odds plummetted once they didn’t win the lottery and didn’t land any max-players during free agency.
As a result, the team’s projected win total for the season in sportsbooks dropped as well. Currently, they are down to as few as 26.5 wins for their season total. While they didn’t blow people away in free agency, a 10-win increase from last season is attainable.
Going into the second year in Fizdale’s system should bring improvements and the veterans signed should bring a mich-needed edge defensively.
The 2018-19 season was billed as one for development, which bought some time for Fizdale. Now, it is time to show that he is a good coach in this league. This may not be an NBA Finals contending roster, but they should be more competitive with the number of veterans that were brought in.
As long as those veterans buy into helping the younger players develop, they should win at least 27 games. There were plenty of games last season that the Knicks battled into the fourth quarter but crumbled during crunch time. Veterans will help turn some of those losses into victories as the team upgraded multiple spots on the roster for the 2019-20 season.
