3. Play in at least 70-plus games

In spite of providing Rockets fans with several big-time performances during the second half of the season and playoffs, Gordon’s spectacular hot stretch late would not come without its series of unfortunate hardships.

The player who shot just 36.4 percent from the field through the first two months of the season would struggle to stay healthy during the initial days of his recent campaign in Houston.

Gordon — who played in 65-plus games just once through the first eight seasons of his career — missed 14 outings during the regular season due to various ailments and soreness in his ankle, leg and right knee respectively.

Although Splash Gordon has played in an average of 70.6 games through his first three years in the Space City, finding a way to suit up in at least 70 contests or more might be necessary to help the Rockets compensate for their lack of depth on the wing.

The Rockets having their third offensive option on the floor in the biggest games of the season could be the difference between whether they’re able to capture the top spot in the Western Conference playoff standings come season’s end.
