2019-20 roster

Key additions: Jerami Grant (trade), Bol Bol (draft), P.J. Dozier (free agency), Michael Porter Jr. (health), Tyler Cook (free agency)

Key subtractions: Trey Lyles (free agency), Isaiah Thomas (free agency), Nick Young (free agency), Brandon Goodwin (free agency), Tyler Lydon (free agency), Thomas Welsh (waived)

As mentioned previously, the Nuggets didn’t make any big splashes. They did re-up Jamal Murray on a five-year max extension though, which shows the organization’s trust in his development.

They supplemented the loss of Trey Lyles by trading a 2020 first-round pick for Jerami Grant, an excellent two-way forward who shot 39.2 percent from deep last season. He can step in at the four-spot when Paul Millsap inevitably misses time, and can otherwise be a good backup four or a small-ball center.

Akin to how they landed Michael Porter Jr., the Nuggets also had Bol Bol fall into their laps. In line to be a lottery pick before his injury, the 7’2″ shooting big only played nine games at Oregon before falling to No. 44 in the 2019 draft.

The only addition set to play consistently this season is Grant, who will take on myriad defensive assignments while being a spot-up shooter and cutter on offense. Bol isn’t likely to make an impact as a rookie, and P.J. Dozier is an emergency option.
