While the free agent departures of Jimmy Butler and J.J. Redick represented a decent chunk of their recent success, their offseason maneuvering has resulted in the Sixers formulating one of the more intimidating starting lineups in the league.
In addition to acquiring shooting guard Josh Richardson as part of the deal that saw Butler head to the Miami Heat, the Sixers were also able to secure veteran Al Horford as a free agent.
With their own key free agent in Tobias Harris also returning, the Sixers opening lineup is certain to be one of the more physically imposing units in the league. On a recent episode of The Jump on ESPN, while acknowledging the loss of Butler and Redick, Zach Lowe also noted:
"“I just think that their talent, and their size, is overwhelming. I think they should have the best defense in the NBA. … I think they’re just going to bludgeon people. … I’m frightened by how much I like their team.”"
Couple this with a remodeled bench and a weakened defending NBA champion Toronto Raptors, the Sixers certainly have all the makings of a team that is going to make some serious noise moving forward.
So with this in mind, here are five predictions for the Philadelphia 76ers in season 2019-20.
