James Harden should have some lofty goals in 2019-20
1. Guide Rockets to an NBA championship
For over the last decade, James Harden has continued to show countless basketball fans why he is indeed in a league of his own.
He’s accomplished feats that no player in the history of basketball has ever done, in addition to leaving his fellow opponents beguiled by his majestic performances.
The five-time All-NBA First Team selection has returned to the hardwood with an array of moves and counters that are heavily utilized to increase his annual scoring output each and every season in H-Town.
Yet in spite of all the work that has been put in by the man regarded as the league’s official mad scientist, Harden has fallen short of grappling the most precious reward in all of team sports.
One that should he garner will grant him a place forever among immortals who once dominated the same game that he has left an indelible mark on. In conjunction with an eternal membership in a privileged club.
A championship.
"“As a kid, that’s every kid’s dream, to try and make it to the NBA, try and make it to the NBA title, play the game at a high level,” Harden said per Feigen when discussing the course of his career and aspirations to win a championship in the midst of the Rockets’ playoff run last season. “It’s been a driving force since I’ve been in the league…every single day when I get in the gym, that’s what I think about.”"
Although one could pose the argument that Harden already holds a sacred spot in the hearts of many fans throughout Clutch City, guiding the Houston Rockets to their first championship in 25 years would serve as the culminating accomplishment for the man who embarked upon a path to Houston via trade almost seven years ago.
A title would catapult the franchise to new heights, as putting the city atop of the NBA universe would help Harden join the likes of Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler in all-time Rockets title lore.
It would also grant him the chance to become a modern-day legend in the game among us.
