Atlanta Hawks roll out new, young faces in preseason opener
Vince Carter still has it
We are in the 2019-20 NBA season and Vince Carter is still an active NBA player. That means when the calendar flips to January 2020, Carter can say that he has played in parts of four different decades of the NBA.
This season is Carter’s 22nd season in the league and he has played in 1,481 games. Only four players have played in more games than him. He should pass John Stockton‘s game total before the end of 2019 and should have no problem passing Dirk Nowitzki on this list as well.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played in 1,560 games in his career, but Carter would have to appear in nearly every single game this season for the Atlanta Hawks to have a shot at taking down his number.
But despite the number of games Carter has played, he is still a savvy basketball player. No matter how many minutes he may or may not play, he will always show up. Last night we saw it evidenced in some smooth shooting as well as this sick dime to Cam Reddish.
Carter’s experience will be invaluable to this young team. The fact that he can still get the job done could bode well for these Atlanta Hawks.
