Trae Young looked sharp … as a facilitator

Trae Young struggled offensively from the floor in this game, shooting just 4-of-10 and making just one of his six 3-point attempts in his 26 minutes of play. He also committed eight turnovers and four fouls in that span.

He did have a nice breakaway during the second quarter. After grabbing a rebound, he flew all the way down the court for a basket, making J.J. Redick look foolish along the way and making last night’s Top 5 plays.

Young looked best Monday night when facilitating. Whether it was dishing it out to De’Andre Hunter for a 3-pointer or finding John Collins under the basket, Young was crisp on many of his passes last night.

It’s just the first preseason game and Young is still growing as a player with the Atlanta Hawks. The hope is that he doesn’t have to feel the need to shoot it all the time and be able to rely of the team’s depth of perimeter shooters, where they should have plenty of options.
