Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 bold predictions for 2019-20 NBA season
By Ryan Piers
After breaking down the roster last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers aim to quickly rebuild in 2019-20. Here are three bold predictions for this season.
The basketball at the Cleveland Cavaliers practices is different than everywhere else. A thick, black line races along its bumpy exterior. Dubbed the “Beilein ball” helps players improve their hand placement on shots and passes.
The ball is designed to reintroduce the young Cavs roster to the game’s fundamentals, a perfect tool for a team recovering from a 19-win season. New head coach John Beilein used the ball to turn the Michigan Wolveriense into perennial national title contenders. Fans hope the same for Cleveland.
For the Cavs to create the most minimal of national buzz, there will need to be a drastic improvement. Much of their clunky, mistake-prone roster is back from last season, albeit a year wiser. Plus, Kevin Love appears in good health and top-five draft pick Darius Garland shouldn’t hurt.
A recent All-Star, two high draft picks and optimistic young talent are ingredients for a solid season. Time will tell whether they blend smoothly like delicious soup at a five-star restaurant or explode like improperly mixed chemicals in a high school science experiment.
