Shooting Guard: J.R. Smith

Moving on from a wonderful fairytale to a … not so beguiling one, J.R. Smith finds himself on the New York Knicks All-Decade Team as well.

Despite playing just short of four seasons with the Knicks, Smith actually had a pretty big impact on the team. During the 213 games he appeared in, he would average 15.1 points per game.

Smith would mostly come off the bench, resulting in him bringing home the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2012-13, a season in which he averaged a whopping 18.1 points per game off the bench to help the Knicks secure the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

Productive as he was, though, J.R. Smith did seem to come with his unwanted effects. He has been tested positive for the use of marijuana and has even received a five-game suspension without pay.

The league’s anti-drug policy clearly states that a player must be tested positive three times before being suspended, making it an even worse case for J.R. Swish.

If you are not yet sold on whether Smith is a frequent marijuana user, the final seconds of Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals would certainly help you get off the fence.

Either due to the lack of other quality shooting guards or because of the fact that he is the most recent recipient of an award, Smith finds his way to this list.
