This offseason, it looked as though the Minnesota Timberwolves were going to go for the thing that helped propel them to the playoffs two seasons ago, youth. They let aging Luol Deng and Jerryd Bayless walk and exchanged them for Jordan Bell and Jarrett Culver.
Both are young players with a lot of potential and Bell was a part of the championship Golden State Warriors squad in 2017-18.
Minnesota also picked up a rookie with a huge upside in Naz Reid. Reid had a big showing in the NBA Summer League and the Timberwolves signed him to a multi-year deal, as well as signing Summer League teammate Jordan McLaughlin to a two-way contract.
The Timberwolves also managed to upgrade from Dario Saric, who was unhappy with his role on the team, as they traded him for the draft rights to the promising two-way guard from Texas Tech, Jarrett Culver.
Culver looks to be the point guard of the Timberwolves future, as Jeff Teague‘s contract is expiring, and if he doesn’t find his shot soon, he could be out the door.
