Golden State Warriors: Bold predictions for a new era
By Alan Mena
For the first time in five years, the Golden State Warriors are coming into a new season as the underdogs. Here are three bold predictions for the 2019-20 season.
The 2019-20 Golden State Warriors will look extremely different than they did the last five seasons.
Their extensive veteran presence has diminished as Kevin Durant was traded to the Brooklyn Nets, Andrew Bogut returned to play in Australia, Andre Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies and Shaun Livingston recently announced his retirement.
Stephen Curry and Draymond Green will need to lead their team this season more than ever as Klay Thompson recovers from the sidelines. Last month, Draymond has gone on record saying that he misses being the underdog and is looking forward to the challenge with Curry and Klay.
This summer, the Warriors have signed and drafted nine new players (combined) this off-season, which results in them taking a step back as a team, chemistry and talent-wise. Once the Warriors are able to rebuild that chemistry and cohesiveness that won them three NBA championships in five years, they will become contenders again.
Thankfully, coach Steve Kerr, Curry, and Green are more than capable to begin the season off on the right foot.
