New Orleans Pelicans: 5 reasons to be excited for 2019-20 NBA season

Floor spacing
When your team has a powerhouse like Zion Williamson and a non-shooting point guard such as Ball, you need to have players capable of stretching the floor. This is why J.J. Redick is one of the best pickups of the offseason.
A career 41.3 percent 3-point shooter, coming off a season where he drained 240 of his 650 attempts, Redick will provide reliable scoring from the outside, keeping defenders honest when his teammates cut or drive towards the basket.
One of the biggest threats in the league as a spot-up shooter, he can hurt you from anywhere on the floor. Shooting 44 percent from the corner and 39 percent from elsewhere, Redick finished the year with 40 percent from behind the arc, ranking in the 84th percentile in the process.
He is more than just a catch-and-shoot guard though; he is tremendous off the ball. Coming off pin downs, flaring to corners or attacking the mid-range game, Redick is a menace. He also provides a steady hand at the free-throw line, shooting 89 percent for his career.
At 35 years old and entering his 14th season in the league, Redick has found a way to contribute while allowing himself to stay fresh through the course of a season. If he can keep Father Time at bay and continue to impact games from deep while providing solid veteran leadership in the locker room, then his signing will be viewed as a major success by the organization.
Scheduled to remain on the team until the end of the 2020-21 season while earning $13.25 million a year, Redick will provide the team with much-needed spacing allowing players like Zion and Ingram the room needed to make an impact when driving the lane or attacking the paint.
