1. De’Aaron Fox shows further improvement

The improvements shown by De’Aaron Fox last season were nothing short of spectacular, seemingly improving on every facet of his game over the summer. His numbers were up across the board and he was passing the eye test with flying colors.

Averaging 7.3 assists last season, he showed he can facilitate an offense. What seemed one of the biggest questions during his rookie year was suddenly being answered just over twelve months later.

His quickness and lateral movement are incredible, allowing him to weave around defenders and get to the rim where he can finish with a plethora of moves. Playing on one of the highest-paced teams in the league while also being one of the fastest guards in the league causes nightmares for opponents.

Being able to finish as Fox does around the rim is the perfect complement to this break-neck style of basketball. Synergy has Fox leading 424 transition plays last year earning them 1.1 points-per-possession while dropping 52.1 percent of his attempts.

Continuing to improve his 3-point shot, especially from the corners where he only shot 31 percent last year, will be part of his improvements offensively. While consistency on defense is always required, Fox has performed admirably on that end of the floor finishing the year ranked in the 85th percentile for guards in steals stripping the ball 2.1 percent of the time he guarded a ball handler.

Fox made his leap last year. Now, it’s about tweaking things slightly or adding a variation to his repertoire. If he continues to improve this year Fox has a chance to average a double-double in scoring and assists, which is not a stretch considering the shooting the team just added in free agency.

A future multiple-time All-Star in the making, Fox combines finesse and lightning speed to draw fans out of their seats. Another jump this year will go a long way to bringing playoff basketball back to Sacramento.
