New York Knicks: 2019-20 NBA season preview
The New York Knicks could be in for another long season in 2019-20. However, there are some pieces to like. Let’s take a look at what we can expect to see from the orange and blue this season.
The 2018-19 season was not a good one for the New York Knicks. They finished with the worst record in the NBA, going 17-65. That tied for the worst mark in franchise history, which was set during the 2014-15 season. Despite that, the organization and fans came into the offseason with some optimism.

Armed with the most cap space in the league and the best chances at landing the No. 1 overall pick, it was easy to understand why people were excited. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.
New York fell to No. 3 in the 2019 NBA Draft. At least they landed RJ Barrett there, as free agency was even more of a disaster. Dreams of landing a max free agent went out the door quickly. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, who many people predicted would sign with the Knicks, instead teamed up with together on the Brooklyn Nets.
It was another gut punch for fans who felt they had a chance to quickly turn into contenders. Instead, they signed several veterans who will be tasked with helping the younger players develop. New York will be better, but they will have to do it the old-fashioned way, drafting and developing young players to turn into a contending team.
Training camp battles will be plentiful, as David Fizdale now has multiple veterans to mix into the rotation. There will be plenty of guys who received minutes last season that may not get the same chances this season, but the organization needs to stay on course.
While the Eastern Conference isn’t as strong as the Western Conference, the playoffs are still a longshot for the Knicks. Let’s take a look at the upcoming season for the orange and blue and how things may go.
