1. The Collin Sexton and Darius Garland combo

There’s something extra exciting about two, highly touted, young point guards teaming up. The Orlando Magic had a run of drafting big men early a few years ago. But talented post players just don’t possess the pizzazz of electrifying guards.

Ballers like Collin Sexton and Darius Garland dazzle crowds with crossovers and deep triples. A Mohamed Bamba post-up doesn’t elicit the same reaction.

The Celtics nabbed two comparable wings — Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum — in consecutive drafts. But neither is really ball-dominant. The Cavs’ new talent takes control the moment the basketball is in-bounded.

Cleveland’s two most recent lottery picks will often share the spotlight, literally, trotting out almost in unison as PA announcer Sean Peeples bellows their names during the starting lineups. Sharing the backcourt, they’ll be a treat for fans to watch.

Both athletic, raw and a bit unpredictable, they’ll certainly keep onlookers entertained, unsure of what to expect. The turnovers will evoke frustration, maybe. But fans inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will never be bored.

Of course, progress is paramount. Acrobatic layups and pull-up 3-pointers will quickly become old if mistakes follow and wins don’t. And the Garland/ Sexton combo is certainly more than just an NBA chemistry experiment- can a team build around two, young point guards?

The Portland Trail Blazers already proved that to be true.

Whatever happens, fans are certainly eager to see the pair play together. If things work to perfection, Garland is a titillating, all-around guard who averages 20 points and 10 assists per game.

Sexton morphs into an off-ball hound, locking down the opposing team’s best ball handler while dominating the games final moments. The prospect of the two succeeding together is unique, intriguing and hopeful. Clearly, it’s what Cavs fans have to look forward to the most next season.
