With a new coach and young talent, an interesting era appears to be nearing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. What are the five reasons to be most excited for next year?
The most optimistic Cleveland Cavaliers fans must do mental gymnastics to argue their team is playoff ready. Maybe games against squads like the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns are should-wins. But Cleveland enters every other match up as, at best equals, and usually underdogs.

Now a summer removed from LeBron James second exodus, the Cavs hope to build after they spent a season tearing down. It’s time for players, coaches and front office to don their hard hats, similar to the one Kevin Love wore when he inked a contract extension, and construct a contender.
The 947-foot and 57-floor Key Tower in downtown Cleveland wasn’t built in a day. Similarly, Cleveland won’t return to championship glory (it’s still wonderful to be able to even say that) in a season.
Yet, the NBA is no longer seems dynasty driven. Top teams feature talented duos, not three- and four-headed monsters like seasons past.
Cleveland isn’t a “destination city” — even though locals know it should be =- so the Cavs probably must build a championship roster through draft picks rather than expensive free agent signings. Grooming two superstars is easier than three.
So the NBA directional change seems to favor Cleveland more than most.
As we transition into a new decade, the Cavs hope their fortunes shift with it. Here are five reasons to most look forward to the 2019-20 season.
