Utah Jazz: 5 reasons to be excited for 2019-20 NBA season

3. The Jazz have high octane offensive potential
The Utah Jazz finished 14th in offensive rating (ORtg) with a 110.3 ORtg and 17th in points per game with 111.7, which meant for a rather average offense last season.
Mitchell was the team’s only reliable volume scoring option, and the team generally lived and died offensively by his performance.
While their decidedly average offense was not a major issue in the regular season, their lack of offensive options was one of the main reasons behind their first-round exit come playoff time.
Averaging under 98 points per game in the playoffs makes it difficult to advance, even with an elite defense.
This season, expect the Jazz to finish closer to the top 10, given the additions of a 20-plus point-per-game scorer and career 37.5 percent shooter from deep in Conley, along with Bogdanovic, who is coming off an 18.0 points per game, 42.5 percent 3-point shooting season as the Pacers’ No. 1 option following Victor Oladipo’s injury.
Furthermore, as Mitchell steps into his third season, look for him to make a leap in scoring and efficiency as the team’s No. 1 option.
While the Jazz bench wasn’t terrible last year, they were about as average offensively as the starting unit. Utah ranked 15th in bench points per game last season with 36.3 of their 111.7 points coming from their second unit.
With an improved bench unit of Dante Exum, Mudiay, O’Neale, Green, and Davis, expect the Jazz to land closer to, or in the top 10 this year.
