Anthony Davis coming to town as LeBron James‘ co-star and heir apparent was the first and largest wave, as the Lakers stripped down the roster to bring in the star big man.
The core of the Lakers’ recent futility — Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart — was shipped out to bring in the hope of something much greater, much sooner.
General manager Rob Pelinka then remade the rest of the rotation around Davis, James and Kyle Kuzma. While the play for Kawhi Leonard fell short, the team quickly pivoted to add reigning champion Danny Green on the wing.
Quinn Cook, Jared Dudley and Dwight Howard have been added while Rajon Rondo and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope were retained.
