Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 2020 NBA Draft prospects to watch
By Tony Pesta
3. Jaden McDaniels – SF
The Cleveland Cavaliers need to stack up on wing players. Already loaded on the perimeter, it is the forward position that needs some strengthening. It’s time to introduce Washington commit Jaden McDaniels.
This five-star recruit made waves as a shot creator in high school. Showing good touch from every spot on the floor, McDaniels will have no trouble with shooting the ball at the college level. His athleticism and handle will carry him far while his shooting acts as the cherry on top.
There are few criticisms of McDaniels, however. He does need to add muscle. A thin frame makes it difficult for him to battle in the paint. On top of this, his defensive capabilities are questionable, to say the least.
Adding a bad defender to a team that is already poor defensively might be a shakey idea. The Cavaliers need to find versatile wings with enough size to help patch up holes in their defense. As of now, this doesn’t appear to be one of Jaden’s characteristics.
Still, McDaniels may be too good of a scorer to pass up. We will need to see how potent his offensive game becomes in college before making a final decision on McDaniels.
