4. LaMelo Ball – G

It’s easy to overlook LaMelo Ball. After his father made a mockery of the NCAA and derailed his son’s collegiate career, Melo is looking to overcome adversity and reach the NBA.

Though some have counted him out, most scouts who watch Ball understand that he is gifted. His upside is through the roof as he continues to grow into a better athlete and player. According to this clip from a reality show “Ball in the Family“, Ball has added 10-15 pounds of muscle recently.

If this is true, it only increases the potential that Ball has. An already talented offensive player, Melo is a phenomenal finisher around the rim. He has a ton of creativity when scoring and making plays for others.

Ball is a high-risk, high-reward type of player. There isn’t a pass or shot that he is afraid to attempt. He has the confidence to pull off miraculous plays and he does it frequently.

Of course, this means the team that drafts him will also have to deal with the consequences that come with his style of play.

Overall, Ball is a solid scorer and a streaky shooter from deep. With proper development, he will have a successful career in the NBA. However,  does this mean the Cleveland Cavaliers should consider drafting him?

This depends on a few factors. The Cavaliers already have an abundance of guards, but it’s possible that Collin Sexton or Darius Garland end up in a sixth-man role by the end of the season. In this case, selecting Ball in the 2020 NBA Draft is an option.
