Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 2020 NBA Draft prospects to watch
By Tony Pesta
5. Isaiah Stewart – PF/C
First on our list is Isaiah Stewart. The big man out of New York is ready to make an impact at the collegiate level and can make a successful jump to the NBA.
Committed to play for the Washington Huskies, Stewart will instantly be one of the teams best defenders. His gigantic frame and supreme athleticism make him a force on this end of the floor.
With all of the physical tools needed to lock up opposing players, Stewart will be loved by NBA scouts.
As stated, Stewart is a great athlete. He can play above the rim and will rack up a ton of blocks in Washington. However, his offensive game is still raw and he lacks range on his shot. This is going to hurt him in college and in the pros as shooting is becoming more and more important.
The rest of his offensive game needs some work as well. He relies heavily on his athleticism to score and struggles when he is matched up against someone as big/agile as him. Finding some go-to moves and working on his finishing ability has to be a focus for him this year.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be watching Stewart through his freshman season. If his development goes smoothly, the Cavs may consider selecting the defensive big man.
