2. Kris Dunn will be on the roster at the end of the season

Following a 2017-18 campaign in which he averaged 13.4 points and 6.0 assists per contest, Kris Dunn took a step back in multiple areas last season. He averaged two fewer points per contest. Both his overall shooting percentage and steals numbers took a slight dip as well.

Even more importantly, after suiting up 52 times in 2017-18, the third-year guard played in just 46 games last season — calling his durability into question.

Outside of shooting a career-best 35.4 percent from 3-point range, Dunn’s days with the Chicago Bulls seem to be numbered. Aside from the production decrease and health concerns, the Bulls selected Coby White with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Then, they followed that up with acquiring Tomas Satoransky in free agency via a sign-and-trade deal with the Washington Wizards.

Based on these factors, it looks like the writing is on the wall for a potential exit. However, all hope is not lost for Dunn, at least not yet, anyways. One factor that Dunn has in his favor is that White isn’t expected to come in and start from Day 1.

Secondly, the front office prefers depth and versatility across the board, which is what this trio of players provides at a key position.

Lastly, Dunn has stated that he wasn’t going to be overly concerned about the Bulls adding another point guard to roster during the offseason.

Now that the Bulls have added not just one, but two other guys who can play at either backcourt spot, I’m banking on the fact that Dunn will use this as motivation to elevate his game next season.

If he can become the guard the Bulls were hoping for when they traded for him two years ago, not only will Dunn be on the roster at the end of the season, he will more than likely cement himself as the team’s starting point guard going forward.
