The upcoming NBA season is going to be a fun one, and the Philadelphia 76ers are at the forefront of it. Here are five reasons to be enthusiastic for 2019-20.

Over the last seven to ten years, the only constant with the Philadelphia 76ers has been change. In most cases that’s a cliche, but it’s the truth in the case of this franchise.

More from Hoops Habit

In the years of The Process, losing was intentional, therefore no-names were constantly shuffled through. For the following three years, in tandem with Joel Embiid‘s ascension, the team shuffled through players at a lesser rate, but still a rampant one.

The climax of that continuous modification came this summer, when everyone but Embiid and the rookie contracts were ticketed for free agency. Five of the seven crucial rotation pieces from the 2019 playoff run hit the open market.

The 2019 Draft didn’t get many fans’ hopes up, as the team sold off almost every second rounder it had, using one in tandem with its own first to poach Matisse Thybulle.

It was obvious that the Sixers were enamored with Thybulle, as they were quickly cited as the team that gave the Washington wing a pre-combine promise.

The depth that plagued the Sixers all of last season was not addressed on this night, making fans skeptical that this organization knew what it was doing.

Elton Brand and the rest of the front office were not fazed. Despite Butler bolting for Miami and J.J. Redick cashing out in New Orleans, the Sixers still made the most of an initially gloomy summer.

In the Butler sign-and-trade, Philly got Josh Richardson back, who is not a huge drop-off from Butler himself. Using the difference in Butler and Richardson’s salaries, combined with the cap hit Redick left behind, the Sixers amassed enough money to sign Al Horford as well.

Mike Scott and James Ennis took discounts to stay, and others took the veteran’s minimum to round out the rotation. The 2019-20 iteration of the Sixers is now one of the most complete rosters in the league; here are five other reasons to tune in.
