The new star in town

Kemba Walker has never been surrounded by this level of talent before, having been a member of the Charlotte Hornets for the duration of his career.

During his time there he was unable to taste consistent success, consistently being the primary option on the squad and having little in the way of help from the rest of the roster.

How quickly things can change, now he will be sharing the floor with Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward.

His assist numbers should see a steady increase now his teammates are capable of knocking down the shots he sets up for them while having big men such as Enes Kanter will enable him to continue running the pick-and-roll he uses so devastatingly.

More suited to the team than Kyrie Irving, Walker has spoken of his eagerness to get started with the team and learn the system.

A reliable scorer and playmaker who has three All-Star appearances to his name along with All-NBA third-team honors.

Furthermore, Walker knows the city having played his collegiate career at the University of Connecticut, where he guided the team to the NCAA championship in 2011, winning the Big East MVP award in the process.

A maestro in the pick-and-roll, lightening when running the break and respectable on defense. Walker has all the attributes needed to thrive in a Brad Stevens system, which is predicated heavily on consistent excellence from their point guards.

Both Kyrie and Isaiah were traded to the Boston Celtics while Rozier was drafted. It worked out in one of the three cases.

What’s different here, is that Kemba chose to become a Celtic he chose to play for Stevens under the bright lights of the TD Garden and the media microscope that comes with it — that can make all the difference.
