As the 2019-20 NBA season inches closer to its starting point, each team has a question in need of answering to set themselves up for success.

Training camp will soon open for all 30 NBA teams, and with that brings full focus to what is sure to be a wildly entertaining 2019-20 season. Superteams are no more, sacrificed in free agency to restore balance across the league with dynamic duos trending more than in previous years.

More from Hoops Habit

Stars spread across the league is always a good thing for the sake of parity, but it’s created a set of circumstances that have left the NBA without a prohibitive title favorite.

Sure, there are contenders, but no single team stands above the rest, and it’s put hope in franchises that have rarely had any this decade.

Roughly 30 percent of the league believes in their abilities to compete for a championship. In most years, those without a shot at the top tend to gravitate towards the bottom, but that isn’t likely to be the case this coming year.

A hectic 2019 Draft Lottery night should stymie what used to be a frenzied race to the league’s worst record give how little it now guarantees with flattened lottery odds. Plenty of teams with talent on the rise will be looking to make a statement with a potential run to the postseason.

Every team has a bar set in place that would make the imminent season a successful one, but those tend to depend on unique expectations.

Better serving their pursuit, however, would require the answer to a question that could make or break a season where just about everything seems up for grabs.
