Chicago Bulls: 5 reasons to be excited for 2019-20 NBA season
2. The continued growth of Zach LaVine’s game
This isn’t hyperbole, Zach LaVine is one of the most overlooked players in today’s NBA.
His defense is lacking, there is no doubting that (yes, Jabari Parker, NBA players are paid to play defense), but LaVine is one of the more prolific scorers in the association and only getting better.
Entering his third season with the Chicago Bulls, LaVine is clearly one of the game’s hardest workers. Summer (edited) workout videos have become customary these days, but LaVine’s might just be the most impressive.
If his workouts translate even a fraction to the court, the league could be in trouble.
Last season, LaVine averaged 23.7 points per game, snagged 4.7 rebounds and dished 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46.7 percent from the field. Some might say he’s ineffective, as his player efficiency rating was “just” 18.7 in 2018-19, league average is 15 by the way.
Others will say he’s not a great shooter, but his 37.4 percent from 3-point range topped James Harden‘s 36.8 percent.
All this to say, Zach LaVine is on his way to becoming a star in this league. If you haven’t noticed yet, consider this as your first warning.
