Chicago Bulls: 5 reasons to be excited for 2019-20 NBA season
4. The electric Coby White
Speaking of addressing the point guard position, the GarPax first did this during the NBA Draft, selecting former North Carolina point guard Coby White seventh overall.
After a 22-win season, the hope was that team would somehow end up at the top of the draft to select eventual number one pick, Zion Williamson.
It didn’t happen, and neither did any draft day maneuvering to secure a higher selection. Instead, the Chicago Bulls stayed in their spot and drafted the exciting White.
If bringing the 6’5″ 19-year-old is a consolation prize, then the front office should be quite satisfied with their reward.
White checks many of the boxes the team is looking for, especially his ability to push the pace. In his lone season with the Tar Heels, he averaged 16.1 points while dishing 4.1 assists per game and shooting 35.3 percent from 3-point range, 42.3 percent overall.
With athletic wings on each side with Zach LaVine and Otto Porter Jr., Coby White should have fun setting up his teammates for easy buckets. He should continue to improve his jumper and if he does, the sky is the limit for the new Bulls guard.
