Orlando Magic: 5 reasons to be excited for 2019-20 NBA season

4. Markelle Fultz will play
At some point early on in the season, Markelle Fultz will make his debut for the Orlando Magic. The point guard having endured one of the strangest careers to date since being selected first overall by rye Philadelphia 76ers in 2017.
We don’t know how the Fultz experiment will go in Orlando, and there’s every chance that the 76ers cut ties with him for a reason.
But for those first few games when it all feels so new, having Fultz on the team will be really exciting. Off the bench at first, before hopefully sliding into a starting role in time. Fultz playing also brings with it a degree of excitement for another, big reason.
The Magic are locked into this core now for the next couple of years, so if they want to take the next step, improvement is going to have to come from within. Isaac and Gordon are two two young guys who can do just that.
But the potential for Fultz to come in and be good raises the Magic’s ceiling even more.
He is only 21, and so is in position to grow at the same rate as Isaac and Bamba in particular. The guidance that veteran D.J. Augustin will provide will only help as well. Even more exciting is the prospect of Fultz actually being able to contribute in some small way, straight away.
Fans are so eager to see him back out there that he will definitely be given some time to show what he can do.
This will likely decrease if the Magic fall behind in the playoff race early, but for the most part they will understand. Imagine then if the gym footage which made its way onto social media earlier in the summer actually holds true and Fultz is able to shoot the ball.
It would be a development on the same level as Ben Simmons taking pull-up jumpers. It might all end badly, otherwise this would be higher, but at the start at least, having Fultz playing again will make the Magic the talk of the league.
