Best NBA Jam duo for Cleveland Cavaliers: LeBron James + Larry Nance Sr.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have one title to their name, courtesy of LeBron James returning the “The Land” before taking his talents to Malibu Beach. They also have two of the strongest and most athletic players in the history of the game, giving them a ready-made pairing for NBA Jam success.

James is the franchise’s most well-known player, one of the greatest players of all time. Built like a linebacker, but as fast as a sprinter, James is impossible to stop in the open court, going from the 3-point line to the rim in the blink of an eye and with the force of a locomotive. No one is stopping him.

Yet he is deadly coming back the other way, especially to those thinking to score in transition (just ask Andre Iguodala). His chase-down blocks are nasty and opponents on NBA Jam should do their best to score quickly. Leaping into the air for an elaborate finish is just asking James to come from nowhere and swat the ball away.

James’ partner is, of course, Larry Nance Sr. — not Larry Nance Jr., currently on the Cavaliers roster, but the NBA All-Star from the 1980s.

Nance was a tough defensive player who could score well enough to lead his team, but where he was truly special was at the rim. His dunks were creative and powerful, and he held the banner for league’s best dunker before passing it on to Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins.

The pairing of these two would be special, as they would block every shot on one end and throw down every shot on the other. Stopping these two would likely need to involve police barricades and perhaps some sort of brick wall. Then again, they would likely leap over anything in their way.
