Best NBA Jam duo for Orlando Magic: Dwight Howard + Tracy McGrady
NBA Jam is generally restricted only to NBA players, but what if superheroes were mixed into the player pool? Flash racing up and down the court to lay the ball in, or Wonder Woman blocking shots with her bracelets? In the case of the Orlando Magic, they will be trotting out Superman…of sorts.
Dwight Howard was (is) unique in many ways, from his love of candy to his fart jokes. He was also unique in competing in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest as a center, but he brought showmanship and creativity to his task.
During games, he loved to dunk as well, unstoppable on the offensive glass for putback slams. While he was never a finesse player in the post, he was a strong enough scorer. Defensively, he was the best in the league for years.
For all the skills he does not have, Tracy McGrady brings plenty onto the court. One of the most versatile offensive players of his generation, McGrady could fill it up in many ways. He was fast, strong and clever with the ball, scoring inside and out. On defense, he leveraged his athleticism to guard players larger or smaller than him.
Together, this team forms the type of strong and complementary pairing the Magic have struggled to put together for much of their 30-year existence. Between the two, they will supply those playing NBA Jam with plenty of dunks, but bring the defense and shooting needed to win games as well.
