5. Sunday, Nov. 10: Timberwolves vs. Nuggets

The Minnesota Timberwolves made NBA history in 2018, as they finally snapped the longest playoff drought in said history to sneak into the 2017-18 playoffs as an eighth seed. But the achievement didn’t come easy.

At the start of the 82nd game of the regular season that year, there were two teams tied for ninth place in the conference, which meant just barely missing the playoffs.

That’s normally an occasion in and of itself, but it just so happened that both of these teams would be playing on the same night. And to top this tension sundae off with a nice bit of pressure cherries, they were facing each other.

It was win or go home and the two teams were the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Minnesota would go on to win that one in overtime and since then, it’s kind of sparked a one-sided rivalry. The Nuggets made it into the playoffs in 2018-19 easily and they demolished the Timberwolves along the way to doing so. But now, there’s a chance to change that.

This game will be the first of these two division rivals meeting in the 2019-20 season, and it’s right near the beginning. It will also be a showcase of post play, as the two most dominant big men in the league in Karl-Anthony Towns and Nikola Jokic will be facing off.

If the Timberwolves win this game, it could cement them as a solid force in the Western Conference.
