Conclusion

Given the unpredictability of the draft lottery, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be better off if they avoid tanking. This squad already has a low ceiling and limiting them, even more, will help nobody.

With the NBA’s new lottery system, tanking is officially dead. Every team understands that falling to the bottom of the standings isn’t going to guarantee anything anymore. Instead, putting everything into building a competent roster is the most important goal for each NBA franchise.

While they aren’t going to compete for a championship, this Cavaliers team can be a fun one to watch in the coming years. Cedi Osman and Collin Sexton are rising stars while Darius Garland has Rookie of the Year potential behind his crafty handle and deep shooting.

When healthy, Kevin Love is capable of being an All-Star. His presence on the glass will help the Cavaliers defensively and his offensive production is going to be enormous given the number of shots he’ll get.

Throw in a few other promising players like Larry Nance Jr., Tristan Thompson, Jordan Clarkson, Dylan Windler and Kevin Porter Jr. to make this a truly exciting time to be a Cavs fan.

The franchise has taken a solid step forward in their rebuild. A successful season here, followed by a little bit of luck in the lottery can have this team in a good position for the future. Advancing to phase two of the rebuild can happen in no-time.
