3. Semi Ojeleye

There is a Marcus Morris shaped hole in the Celtics rotation following his departure this off-season, with Semi Ojeleye primed to compete for the lions share of minutes now available.

The defensive end is where Semi has made his most notable impact during the early years of his career, respectably defending some of the best players in the league in high-pressure environments such as the playoffs.

Having only attempted an average of 1.7 shots per game from beyond the arc during his first two NBA seasons it is reasonable to expect an uptick in both attempts and makes heading into the new season.

Having been drafted as a future 3-and-D type player, Semi has some work to do on the offensive end of his game. With the opportunity there for the taking, it should be assumed he has been putting in the hours at the team practice facility. Improving that 3-pointer to the league average of 36 percent over the season should be within his grasp.

Standing 6’7”, rebounding is another area of development Semi needs to show growth in. A man of his size and stature should be able to control the glass, especially when the opposing team goes small. Unfortunately with only 1.9 rebounds per game over 129 games played Semi has yet to showcase this ability.

Two years into his rookie contract, his time to impress is ticking down. With the extra minutes Semi projects to have this upcoming season, now is his time to showcase the improvements he has made to his game this summer to earn a contract past his rookie deal.
