Golden State Warriors: 3 candidates for a breakout season in 2019-20

2. Jordan Poole
Selected as the 28th pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft, Michigan product Jordan Poole is more than ready to begin his career with the Golden State Warriors.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard has a game reminiscent of former Warrior Nick Young, who provided a scoring spark off the bench for several seasons.
In four Summer League appearances, he averaged 17.8 points (team-high), 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.3 steals, and shot 40 percent overall.
Poole’s most impressive Summer League performance yet was in a win against the Raptors: 21 points and a pair of rebounds, assists, and steals, while shooting 7-for-16 overall, 2-for-6 from 3-point range and 5-for-5 at the foul line in 28 minutes of action.
Poole’s strengths include: explosive offense, pull-up and step-back jump shot, 3-point shooting, ball-handling playmaking ability, confidence in his shot, creating his own shot, making the right play in the open court and is active in the passing lanes.
His weaknesses, on the other hand, include a low shooting percentage, shot selection, and defense, which will all be improved in his rookie season.
Kerr would be able to utilize Poole as a combo guard behind Stephen Curry and D’Angelo Russell alongside the shooting depth that he would provide in Klay Thompson’s absence.
