Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 2020 free agency targets
By Ethan Becker
1. Kyle Korver
Kyle Korver is probably one of the strongest additions that the Minnesota Timberwolves could make to their second unit. Korver is an experienced veteran, who has shown that he has what it takes to succeed at a high level in the NBA.
Korver was a key part to the 2014-15 Atlanta Hawks team that was dubbed the “Spurs of the East,” primarily for his strength at the catch-and-shoot 3. His productions has dropped slightly since then, but he’d be a great addition nonetheless.
True, Korver is 37 and will be going into his 20th season in the league, but he still looks pretty good for a guy giving you close to 10 points per game and shooting around 40 percent from the field and 3.
The real skill that Korver could bring to the Wolves is his ability to shoot the ball.
With Korver on the bench, he could fit in nicely alongside a developing Jarrett Culver and Jaylen Nowell, and help to take some of the immediate pressure off of them, so that they can grow more comfortable with the ball.
Another benefit that Korver would bring is putting pressure on Andrew Wiggins. With someone as skilled at the quick shot as Korver is, it could light a fire under Wiggins to make sure that his minutes stay up.
In other words, with Korver as the No. 2 option off the bench, it might drive Wiggins to make sure we never have to go there.
