3. Enes Kanter

Once upon a time, Enes Kanter and Steven Adams was the tandem that held down the low post game for the Oklahoma City Thunder. While there, Kanter flourished, producing career highs in points (18.7), rebounds (11.0), and blocks per game (0.5).

He also established a 13/8/0.4 baseline that elevated his game past the highest possible point it was at during his run with the Utah Jazz.

Last season, Kanter suffered through a lot of problems that hurt his game. On the court, Kanter suffered from injuries, playing a career low 67 games due to an illness, back, and wrist injuries.

Off the court, Kanter was wrapped up in a political firestorm as his comments against the Turkish Prime Minister threatened his freedom and his life if he were to leave the United States.

Now, in the final year of his contract with the Boston Celtics, there is a slight question mark hanging above his game: questions about whether or not he can regain that top form again.

Despite all of those, there are still plenty of reasons that Minnesota might want to pick up Kanter this summer. First, his play style fits well next to Towns

. If he were to start for the Wolves, Kanter would certainly draw defensive eyes away from Towns and his upwards of 4.0 offensive rebounds per game could help the Timberwolves pull down more second chance points, a stat which Minnesota was already third in the league in last year.

Kanter does have a player option on his contract, so it’s questionable whether or not he would truly want to leave and join his fourth team in three years, but with the recent turmoil that surrounded the Celtics last season, it could be reasonable to think that Kanter would want to go to a team with playoff potential, and not a team in a rebuild.
