team. 170. . Hornets. . Miles Bridges. 28

Our third straight second-year player checks in here and for Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets, this projects to be a season of transition as the 6-foot-7, 225-pounder from Michigan State projects to start at the 4 this season after playing more at the 3 as a rookie.

In a rebuilding mode, it makes more sense for the Hornets to give the minutes to the 21-year-old Bridges rather than 33-year-old incumbent Marvin Williams.

Bridges had some nice moments for Charlotte as a rookie, taken with the 12th overall pick and acquired in a draft night deal from the LA Clippers along with a pair of future second-round picks in exchange for the rights to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

His scoring will be something that will be a work in progress, as he hit the 20-point mark just once last season and scored in single-digits in 56 of his 80 appearances.

Bridges overall averaged 7.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in 21.2 minutes per game as a rookie, shooting 46.4 percent overall and hitting just 32.5 percent on 2.5 3-point attempts a night.

But there is cause for optimism from a strong finish.

Bridges started the final 25 games for the Hornets, during which Charlotte was 12-13, and averaged 9.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 26.2 minutes a game, shooting 49.0 percent overall and upping his deep accuracy to 35.1 percent on 3.1 attempts nightly.

The Hornets, however, played 4.0 points per 100 possessions better when Bridges was off last season, during which he split his time fairly evenly between the 3 and 4 spots. Maybe not having to bounce back and forth will help his consistency in 2019-20 and beyond.
