1. Reggie Jackson

Next offseason will be Reggie Jackson’s last opportunity to make big money in his career. He’s heading into his age-29 season and he’ll be 30 before the year is over.

He’s never been an elite shooting or defensive threat, and a lot of his value during the earlier part of his career was his athleticism and shiftiness that allowed him to get to the basket. Due to injuries, that athleticism is mostly gone and he’s become just an average-at-best point guard.

Last season, he showed some positive development that could help him get one more good contract. On a career-high 5.7 3-point attempts per game, he shot 36.9 percent, which was the best mark of his career and he did it with increased volume.

If he can do that this season, it can show other teams that he has some consistency to it rather than it being just viewed as a one-year fluke.

Jackson doesn’t have the benefit of the bench talent being well-below him anymore. The gap between him and Derrick Rose is far smaller than the gap was between him and Ish Smith.

If Rose can replicate some of his heroics that he displayed with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he could challenge for the starting spot if Jackson struggles. Jackson has a lot on his plate this year that he can’t let distract him from playing well in a contract year.
