While the 2019-20 season will experience a good bit of fluctuation in how significant most of these games wind up being on the new schedule, there are still a few that certainly stand apart from the pack.
The Sixers have the sixth-most nationally televised games, 24 in total — ABC, TNT and ESPN. They will also play 12 games on NBA TV, with 13 back-to-backs.
Bearing all of this in mind, here are the most intriguing games of the upcoming season, beginning with a few honorable mentions.
Honorable Mentions:
- Nov. 8 at Denver Nuggets — A duel between two of the best big men in basketball, Joel Embiid vs. Nikola Jokic.
- Nov. 25 at Toronto Raptors — The defending champs face the Sixers without Kawhi Leonard. Brett Brown and Co. still have unfinished business with this squad.
- Dec. 13 vs. New Orleans Pelicans — J.J. Redick returns to the City of Brotherly Love for the first time, with Zion Williamson as his teammate. Considering Redick turned in two of his best scoring seasons with the Sixers, it’s not going to be easy for the home crowd watching him roll off screens in another uniform.
- Jan. 15 vs. Brooklyn Nets — It’s likely that Kevin Durant won’t be available when the new-look Nets find their way back to Philly, but this could preview a potential series in the Eastern Conference playoffs with Kyrie Irving running the show.
- Mar. 7 at Golden State Warriors — The Sixers’ first appearance at the Chase Center will be a big one. A Saturday night prime time game against Stephen Curry — who combined for 69 points in last year’s 1-1 regular season series — will assuredly draw some eyeballs.
